FACED
Faced with the challenge of finding acceptance
I journey to and from freedom and dependance
Don’t look to close, you might get scared
What is there, really isn’t there
Illusionary delusions of separate identities
Frowns upon smiles, varying intensities
The spirit and the body dance a tango to and from
Spinning quickly around, up they go, here they come
If I could learn to let this go
This scarred and scary truth
I’d fly naked for the world to see
My appetite, my youth
But what does it mean to let it go?
To quietly release my grip?
For it could mean anything
From tragedy to myth
Born amongst the meant to be’s
Its been a lesson true
To teach me of the sensitivities
That make up the me that relates to you
But now its come to far with me
Driving the vehicle I choose
It no longer has a dying need
To feel important, special and true
So here I lay you down to rest
With all the other you’s
The ones that walked this broken path
But that I was forced to lose
You have been my greatest teacher, my love and all my pain
But as I gently let you down, I no longer know your name
